"MMB was the highlight (on 8/7/10). A sort of raw, pained poetry rasped from Montrey’s throat, elegant and soaring at times, always earnest. The dual-saxophone interplay of Hayden Wright and Adam Garnys provided a buoyancy that never dipped into triteness nor flamboyance, while staccato positivity and a rich well of emotion swirled from keyboardist Karl Dietel’s soundscapes, his notes like a structural foundation that itself shook with the wind. They covered a 1986 Peter Gabriel tune, “Sledgehammer,” and made it sound like futuristic jazz" - Rutland Herald

Mike Montrey's debut album, "a perfect reality" has debuted at #29 on the jambands.com radio charts, and the song Tin Can was recently selected for the Sept/Oct Relix Jam-Off. A feature on relix.com was printed in late October, marking The MMB as a "band on the verge". Inner Ear Media's music journal has listed A Perfect Reality as one of the top 15 albums of 2008. The album was tracked/mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer Mike Tarsia (formerly of Sigma Sounds Studios Philadelphia, PA) who has worked with Billy Preston, Joe Pass and many others. The album has received high praise and critical acclaim, is being played nationally (check Myspace blog of stations) and the song Take Me Down Mississippi is featured as song of the week on the highly acclaimed Garage Band website.
